Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant
Location: Danbury, CT
Salary: $115,000 - $120,000
THIS IS AN ON-SITE ROLE
Based in Danbury, we are a leading producer and supplier of raw materials, ingredients, and additives that are vital to businesses and integral to a lower carbon economy. Due to growth and demand for our services, we are in need of hiring for a Sr Cost Accountant that possesses strong experience with manufacturing, cost accounting, and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Responsibilities:
To assist the cost accounting function, apply basic accounting ideas and principles.
Organizing, researching, and gathering information to calculate the expenses of conducting business, including purchasing raw materials, inventory, labor, and completed goods
examine modifications to production processes, raw materials, product designs, or services rendered in order to assess how they affect margins and costs
Ownership for cost updates and item setup to ensure that all bills of materials are accurate
To create and maintain precise labor and material cost estimates, gather and evaluate all pertinent costing data; update as needed on an as-needed basis.
Oversee the D365 cost accounting module, which includes the inventory module's open and closure at month-end
Compute actual manufacturing costs, create recurring reports that compare estimated and actual production costs, and look into any discrepancies.
Review production batches for reasonableness and consult with production to resolve anomalies
Execute monthly inventory reconciliations as well as daily KMT inventory reconciliations.
Analyze, monitor, and report on the degree to which batch order cost estimates and actuals agree.
Examine labor absorption and adjust deviations to guarantee cost precision.
Arrange for regular physical inventory counts and make sure that the appropriate modifications are booked.
Give advice on necessary accrual rates to address potential inventory devaluations and guidelines for periodic inventory revaluations.
Make sure cost estimates are promptly updated to reflect any new transfer pricing adjustments.
Oversee the inventory and related month-end financial close process. Communicate with the finance team to prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
As instructed by the Controller, instruct additional staff members and contract workers in cost accounting duties and procedures.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
7+ years of experience in Accounting within the manufacturing industry
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics
Proficiency in various costing approaches and the capacity to provide well-informed advice regarding the most appropriate approach for different industrial settings
CPA preferred
