What You Will Be Doing
We are looking for Construction Project Accountants to add to our Finance team. The Construction Project Accountant serves as an essential part of the Project Team, managing all aspects of job-related accounting activities. Project Accountants work closely with the Project Manager to ensure timely and accurate reporting, payments, billing, and administration.
- Maintenance of complete and accurate records of the project financial transactions from startup through closeout.
- Project setup in Procore/Sage and review of Owner Contract to verify key requirements.
- Review subcontracts, purchase orders, Owner, and Subcontractor change orders to ensure accurate posting.
- Assist the Project Manager with financial closeout and analysis of all transactions.
- Keeping a record of all project finances for internal/external auditing and tax purposes.
- Ensure that the subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors' account balances in Sage are always correct and reconciled.
- Responsible for accurate and on-time payment of Subcontractor, supplier, and vendor invoices, as well as the timely receipt of Owner funding.
- Acts as liaison between Subcontractors and Project Team, responding to Subcontractor accounting inquiries and diffusing any issues with the assistance of the Project Manager.
- Researching market trends and projecting construction-related price increases/decreases.
What You Need for this Position
- Excellent knowledge of construction cost accounting and related financial procedures.
- Familiarity with accounting software. Procore/Sage
- Working knowledge of the construction industry.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in data entry, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor payments.
- Procore knowledge is preferred.
- High School Diploma Required, Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- A certification in construction accounting is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in private or public accounting.
