Estimator position overview:
The Estimator will be responsible for providing accurate and timely estimates of construction costs for a variety of projects. This includes project planning, researching costs, and building estimates for both commercial and public works projects. The Estimator will also review project plans and specifications to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The Estimator will be responsible for negotiating contracts with clients and subcontractors and managing projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze and interpret project plans and specifications
Research project cost estimating information
Develop cost estimates for various projects such as steel, bridges, marine, and light rail
Create detailed bid documents and cost breakdowns
Negotiate contracts with clients and subcontractors
Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards and regulations
Monitor progress of the project, ensuring that budget and timelines are met
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Previous experience in project estimating/cost estimating
Knowledge of applicable standards and regulations
Proficient in Excel and other related software
Excellent negotiation and communication skills
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
