Position Overview:
The Broadcast Set Designer is responsible for creating visually appealing and functional sets for television broadcasts. They work closely with producers, directors, and other members of the production team to bring the vision of the show to life. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the production team to develop and execute set designs for television broadcasts
- Create detailed drawings and plans for sets, including floor plans, elevations, and color schemes
- Source and select appropriate materials, furniture, and props for the set design
- Oversee the construction and installation of the set, ensuring it meets safety standards and stays within budget
- Work closely with lighting and sound technicians to ensure the set is functional for broadcast purposes
- Reimagine and adapt existing sets for different shows or events
- Stay current with industry trends and techniques to continuously improve set designs
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in set design, interior design, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in set design for television or live events
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Knowledge of construction materials and techniques
- Attention to detail and a strong eye for design
- Flexibility to adapt designs to fit different shows or events
- Familiarity with broadcast equipment and technology is a plus.
